President Badra Gunba laid flowers at the monument to the fallen fighters of the "Gorets" battalion on Mount Akhbyuk.

The event was attended by Vice-President Beslan Bigvava, Speaker of Parliament Lasha Ashuba, veterans, servicemen, mothers of the fallen, and public representatives.

The president emphasized that a people who forget their history are deprived of a future. The Head of State noted that thousands of defenders of the Fatherland gave their lives for the freedom of their native land, and their courage, sincere love for the Motherland, and faith in its future gave the country today.

Badra Gunba noted that during the most difficult historical periods, the Abkhazian people always demonstrated unwavering unity, solidarity, and readiness to stand shoulder to shoulder – this was also the case during the war years.

Addressing the veterans, the President said that their heroism and courage will never be forgotten, and noted that they continue their constructive work for the benefit of the country to this day.

In conclusion, the President emphasized that Mount Akhbyuk is a sacred place, and the younger generation is obliged to honor the feat accomplished here and preserve the memory of their country's history.
