During the visit, issues of mutual cooperation, the implementation of joint projects, including the construction of a children's hospital, as well as issues of harmonization of legislation between the two countries were discussed.

The trip included a visit to leading medical institutions in Moscow.

Special attention was paid to the issues of medical care for citizens of the Russian Federation permanently residing in Abkhazia in medical institutions of the Russian Federation under the compulsory medical insurance policy that citizens receive in the republic.

As noted by Astamur Gunia, in March an additional agreement was signed regulating hospitalization on a foreign passport. The document is currently in the final stages of ratification in Abkhazia and the Russian Federation.

After the ratification is completed, holders of the compulsory medical insurance policy will be able to receive free medical care in all medical institutions of the Russian Federation, primarily in the Krasnodar Territory, and, if necessary, beyond its borders upon presentation of a foreign passport.

The head of the Ministry of Health also informed the President about the involvement of Russian specialists to provide medical care during the summer holiday season. At the request of the Abkhaz side, highly specialized specialists are being sent from the Russian Federation.

The first group of doctors worked in the republic in July. Currently, there is a second group in Abkhazia, which includes 18 specialists. A third group of Russian doctors is scheduled to arrive in September.
