The President honored the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland

Today, on the 34th anniversary of the outbreak of the Patriotic War of the people of Abkhazia in 1992-1993, President Badra Gunba honored the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland.

The flower-laying ceremony in the Glory Park was also attended by Vice President Beslan Bigvava, Prime Minister Vladimir Delba, Russian Ambassador to Abkhazia Vyacheslav Gladkov, members of the Government, members of Parliament, mothers of fallen soldiers, war veterans, volunteers, and members of the public.

In his address to the people, the President called August 14 one of the most tragic dates in the modern history of Abkhazia. Badra Gunba noted the feat of thousands of compatriots who stood up for the Fatherland, as well as the courage of volunteers from the North Caucasus, from other regions of Russia and representatives of the Abkhaz diaspora from abroad.

The Head of State emphasized the role of the First President Vladislav Ardzinba, who in a crucial hour for the country took responsibility for the fate of the Motherland, managed to unite the people, instill faith in them and lead them to Victory.

Badra Gunba stressed the need to preserve unity in difficult and anxious times, calling for mutual respect and the ability to unite in the face of any challenges, putting the interests of the Motherland above personal differences.
