During the visit, an important symbolic ceremony took place: the Abkhaz side donated seedlings of the Pitsunda pine, endemic to the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus, to Nizhny Novgorod. The seedlings were planted in the central district, on one of the city's public territories, and they have become a living symbol of friendship and the continuation of joint environmental projects.

The visit was another step in the fruitful cooperation with the regions of Russia. In recent years, large-scale landscaping projects have been implemented in Abkhazia with the support of Nizhny Novgorod. In particular, in November 2025, the Park of Friendship between Sukhum and Nizhny Novgorod, located in a New District, opened in the capital of the republic. The townspeople highly appreciated the new public space, equipped with a light and music fountain, an amphitheater and recreation areas.

In addition, this year, with the participation of the Nizhny Novgorod authorities, architectural illumination of the colonnade and green spaces on the central embankment of the Makhajirs in Sukhum was implemented. 

The planting of the Pitsunda pine will strengthen twinning ties and become another step in the development of cultural and humanitarian dialogue between Abkhazia and Nizhny Novgorod.
