Participants and guests observed a minute of silence in memory of the Second President of Abkhazia, Sergei Vasilyevich Bagapsh, marking the 15th anniversary of his passing.
The Head of State was introduced to the interactive exhibitions and master classes presented by the project finalists. The President attended a traditional etiquette class, “Apsuara: A Lesson in Courtesy,” the exhibition “The History of Old Sukhum: A Journey Through the Centuries,” a gastronomic show featuring leading chefs, and also visited the craft workshop “Create Your Own Abkhazian Souvenir” and the themed greenhouse exhibition “Bouquet of Abkhazia.”
In his address, the President emphasized that the event celebrates individuals who, through their hard work, talent, and dedication, are shaping the modern image of Abkhazia as a hospitable, distinctive, and welcoming country open to the world.
The Head of State described the project as an important public initiative that has brought together professionals from the tourism, cultural, and crafts sectors. According to him, the competition’s greatest value lies in recognizing those who welcome visitors to the republic every day with professionalism and genuine care.
Badra Gunba expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Tourism, ANO “Team Abkhazia,” and the project’s partner organization, ANO “Russia – Land of Opportunity,” for implementing this significant initiative.
The President noted that the “Abkhazia Recommends” label serves as a symbol of quality, trust, and respect for the country’s traditions of hospitality. He expressed confidence that the example set by the winners would contribute to the development of service culture and further strengthen the republic’s image as an attractive tourist destination.
In conclusion, the President thanked all participants and wished them continued success, inspiration, and prosperity.
A total of 47 contestants representing the hospitality industry reached the project’s final stage. Following an expert evaluation and a public vote that attracted more than 10,000 votes, 31 winners were selected among the best chefs, tour guides, artisans, cafés, and guest houses.
