During the meeting, Badra Gunba and Alexey Russkikh highlighted the positive dynamics of trade and economic relations between Abkhazia and the Ulyanovsk Oblast. According to the results of 2025, bilateral trade turnover increased by 12 percent compared to the previous year.
The parties discussed plans to implement joint projects in the fields of youth policy, education, sports, and culture. Particular attention was given to strengthening cooperation between educational institutions in Abkhazia and the Ulyanovsk Oblast, as well as facilitating the participation of Abkhaz youth in international programs and forums organized by the Project Office for International Youth Cooperation “Russia–BRICS” based in Ulyanovsk.
Tourism was identified as a promising area for further collaboration. Discussions focused on organizing familiarization tours for tour operators, expanding cooperation between cultural institutions, and holding joint exhibitions, conferences, cultural tours, and sporting events.
The parties also noted plans to sign a cooperation agreement between the Government of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Government of the Ulyanovsk Oblast covering trade and economic relations, scientific and technological cooperation, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
To showcase the industrial potential and investment infrastructure of the Ulyanovsk Oblast, Governor Alexey Russkikh invited representatives of the Abkhaz business community to visit the region.
President Badra Gunba emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and expressed confidence in the successful implementation of the initiatives discussed during the meeting.
