President of Abkhazia Badra Gunba took part in a meeting on the socio-economic development of Gulripsh district following the results of the first half of 2026

In his speech, the Head of State stressed the importance of direct meetings on the ground and noted that it is the districts that are the foundation of the state, and their development means the development of the whole country.

Recalling that the current year has been declared the Year of the Village, Badra Gunba stressed that this is not a one-time event. Rural development, support for districts and the creation of decent living conditions for people have been and remain one of the main directions of state policy.

According to the Head of State, the summer floods have become a serious challenge for the region. Badra Gunba noted that the state promptly sent assistance and will continue to do everything to fully restore the affected settlements. At the same time, the President noted that, despite the difficulties, the district continues to develop and maintains a positive trend.

The President stated that with district budget revenues of more than 225 million rubles and expenditures of almost 483 million rubles, over 219 million rubles of inter-budget transfers are provided from the republican budget. Almost 40 percent of them — about 87 million rubles — were allocated to pay salaries to education, healthcare, culture, sports and social workers.

In the first half of the year, almost 10 million rubles were allocated to provide state social assistance to residents of the district — targeted support, treatment, assistance to emergency victims, medical students and entrepreneurship.

Over 66 million rubles were additionally allocated from the republican budget for repair and restoration work and infrastructure development, of which more than 61 million rubles were allocated from the President's Reserve Fund. This made it possible to carry out ruslation work in the floodplain of the Kodor River, dredging work on the Parnaut River in Gulripsh, shore protection work in the village of Machara and to continue the construction of a bridge over the Skurcha River in the village of Dranda.

Separately, Badra Gunba noted the start of repair and restoration work of the tunnel in the village of Lata, stressing that this facility is of strategic importance to the state.

In addition, the material and technical equipment of schools in the district was carried out at the expense of the Reserve Fund of the Cabinet of Ministers.

On behalf of the Head of State, the Capital Construction Department continues to implement and prepare new infrastructure projects. These include the construction of a 500 cubic meter drinking water tank in the area of the tuberculosis dispensary, engineering and geological surveys in the village of Bagmaran, preparations for major repairs of the Botanic Street road in the village of Parnaut, as well as the development of design estimates for the repair of R. Dgebiya Street in the village of Bagmaran as part of the Investment Program.

The increase in the revenue side of the district's budget, as the President noted, was made possible by the launch of the Vladislav Ardzinba Sukhum International Airport, which operates regular flights to more than ten destinations in the Russian Federation. During the first half of the year, about 30 thousand passengers were served, and by the end of the year, passenger traffic of about 180 thousand people is expected, which is already contributing to the growth of tax revenues, the development of entrepreneurship, the service sector and the creation of new jobs.

Badra Gunba noted that if earlier Gulripsh district was perceived more as an agricultural one, now it is actively developing as a tourist one.

Separately, the Head of State emphasized the implementation of the rural support program: 59 projects have already been supported within the framework of the announced Year of the Village. Badra Gunba expressed confidence that this work will definitely be continued after its completion.

In addition, Badra Gunba called for careful use of electricity, noting that reasonable and responsible consumption is necessary for the sustainable operation of the entire country's energy system.

The President called on everyone to act together and support each other during this difficult time.

"Let's cherish and preserve the peace we have together," Badra Gunba stressed.
