The President noted that on August 14, 1992, the war began, which became a terrible and tragic day for the country. But it was then, under the leadership of national leader Vladislav Grigoryevich Ardzinba, that Abkhazia's difficult and heroic path to a Great Victory began.

Badra Gunba called it deeply symbolic to lay the foundation stone on this particular day. According to the Head of State, the future monument will become a symbol of eternal gratitude to those who stood by in the most difficult hours, and will remind future generations of true brotherhood, courage and heroism.

Separately, the President addressed volunteers from the North Caucasus, Southern Russia, representatives of the foreign diaspora, as well as the families of the fallen soldiers. The Head of State expressed his deepest gratitude to them, noting that from the first days of the war, the volunteers came at the call of their hearts, stood shoulder to shoulder and shared all the harsh trials, and hundreds of them remained in the Abkhazian land forever.

"May this monument become a symbol of eternal brotherhood, which was sealed with blood, courage and a common Victory. Abkhazia remembers. Abkhazia is grateful. Abkhazia will never forget its brothers," Badra Gunba said.
