A flower-laying ceremony was held in the village of Tamish at the Memorial of Glory in memory of those who died in the Patriotic War of the Abkhazia of 1992–1993. The event is timed to the 33rd anniversary of the amphibious landing of the Tamish.

The ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic of Abkhazia Badra Gunba,  First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Russia Sergey Kiriyenko, Vice-President Beslan Bigvava, veterans of the Patriotic War, members of Parliament, members of the Government, representatives of the public, and residents of the village of Tamish.

The landing of the Tamish force of 300 fighters became one of the key offensive operations that predetermined the outcome of the war and the subsequent liberation of Sukhum. In the course of fierce battles, 57 fighters fell defending the freedom of their Motherland, and another 153 were wounded.

At the event, it was noted that alongside Abkhazian servicemen, volunteers from the republics of the North Caucasus, southern Russia, Transnistria, as well as representatives of the Abkhazian diaspora fought shoulder to shoulder. Many of them gave their lives for the sake of the common Victory. Today, their feat is honored in Abkhazia with deep gratitude and respect, preserving the memory of those who defended the republic together.

The memory of the heroes who gave their lives for the independence of Abkhazia will forever remain in the country's history.
