The President signed a Decree amending the Regulations on the procedure for registering citizens.

The President of the Republic of Abkhazia, Badra Gunba, signed the Decree "On Amending the Regulations on the Procedure for Registration of Citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia," aimed at protecting the electoral rights of citizens and ensuring the transparency of the electoral process.

According to the document, from the day of signing the Decree of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia on the appointment of elections to the People's Assembly – Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia or elections to local self-government bodies, and until the official summing up of the voting results, the registration (re-registration) of citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia who have reached the age of 18 is suspended.

In the event of a repeat vote or repeat election, this measure shall remain in effect within the respective electoral district until the election results are finalized.

The decree stipulates that the Passport Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia and local registration commissions are responsible for the implementation of the new provisions. Control over the execution of the Decree is also entrusted to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia and local registration commissions.

The adopted decision is aimed at creating additional guarantees for the implementation of the principles of free and fair elections, ensuring the stability of voter lists, and strengthening citizens' trust in the electoral process.
