From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate you on a wonderful holiday – the 2526th anniversary of the city of Ochamchira.
The history of this ancient city goes back centuries. More than two and a half thousand years ago, in 500 BC, the ancient Greek polis of Guenos was founded on the Black Sea coast. It was one of the first cities in the territory of modern Abkhazia, a major center of trade, seafaring, and crafts, connecting the Caucasus with the ancient world.
Throughout its long history, Ochamchira has experienced periods of prosperity and severe trials. But, despite everything, she always preserved her originality, strength of spirit, and the special atmosphere created by people who sincerely love their land.
Ochamchira is rightfully considered the heart of Abzhywa Abkhazia, uniting dozens of villages where Abkhaz traditions, native language, respect for elders, diligence, and loyalty to one's roots are carefully preserved. It is here that the living connection between generations is especially felt, thanks to which our history continues today.
On this festive day, we bow our heads with deep respect to the memory of the defenders of the Motherland who gave their lives for the liberation of Ochamchira and all of Abkhazia during the Patriotic War of the Abkhazian people. Their courage and selflessness will forever remain in our memory.
Today, Ochamchira is confidently moving forward. The city is becoming more well-maintained, infrastructure is developing, and conditions are being created for people's comfortable lives. But the main wealth of Ochamchira has always been and remains its inhabitants – sincere, hardworking people who love their city, are proud of its glorious history, and contribute to its future with their daily labor.
I sincerely wish all residents of Ochamchira and all of Abzhuy Abkhazia strong health, peace, prosperity, happiness, and new successes. May ancient Ochamchira continue to prosper, preserving its rich historical heritage and confidently opening new pages of its centuries-old history.
