Welcoming the guest, the President stressed the high importance of transport cooperation with Russia.
Badra Gunba noted that thanks to the support of Russian President Vladimir Putin and First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Sergey Kiriyenko, it was possible to successfully solve long-term tasks. In particular, regular flights between the two countries have been resumed, and a large-scale reconstruction of the Adler checkpoint has begun.
According to the Head of State, the high workload at the checkpoint shows the scale of foreign economic activity, common interests and close ties between the residents of Abkhazia and Russia, which creates special requirements and conditions for interaction.
The Head of State recalled that last year, as part of joint actions, the Dioscuria train was launched on the Sochi—Sukhum route, which showed its high demand. In addition, there are trains from Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The Head of State stressed the importance of expanding the geography of the directions. All the necessary work to improve the railway infrastructure was carried out with the support of Russian Railways.
According to the President, the regular sea service opened with the support of the Russian Federation also proves its relevance. Badra Gunba expressed confidence that the momentum will be maintained and will continue to grow.
"All the projects that we are implementing today in the framework of cooperation with the Russian Federation cannot be implemented without transport accessibility. This is a key area," the President concluded.
For his part, Andrey Nikitin noted the high results of joint work and stressed that increasing transport accessibility directly works to strengthen the economy and well—being of Abkhazia, and the main task of the two states is to ensure fast, safe and comfortable trips for passengers.
The head of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation also expressed confidence in the further stable growth of passenger traffic, noting that in the summer season of 2026, air transportation between Russia and Abkhazia is carried out in 13 directions.
